About the Aspen Healthcare data breach
Letters and notifications have been sent out following the Aspen Healthcare data breach that is understood to have been identified on 14th March 2022. According to instructions that have been provided to us, the incident – classed as a security breach – arises from a phishing attack on the account of a senior member of the finance team.
It is understood that the attack took place on 22nd February 2022 and resulted in the emails, email folders and the contact list of the breached account being accessed. Aspen Healthcare has looked into who could be affected and what information may have been exposed, and they have identified that information such as the following may have been compromised:

- Addresses.
- Dates of birth.
- Job titles.
- Job descriptions.
- Employee numbers.
- Salary details.
- National Insurance Numbers.
The usual kind of advice and recommendations have been made in respect of what people should do if they are affected by the data breach. These include security precautions and taking extra care, as the risk of being targeted by criminals may now be significant.
We can only assume that the phishing attack on the compromised account was a case of something like a suspicious link being clicked that has then resulted in the access event that has caused the information exposure.
