Our lawyers spoke to the Daily Mail about the British Airways class action and how BA look to be trying to limit the pay-out with a short cut-off to join the group case.
We’ve been pressing a lot recently about the need for those who are serious about making a data breach compensation claim as victims of the BA cyber attacks to sign-up now to avoid missing out. With BA’s lawyers launching their own unprecedented action, we’re concerned that some people could easily miss out with a short deadline of just 17 WEEKS to join the case.
We can’t stress enough how vitally important it is that you start your case on our BA Group Action site here to avoid missing out on potentially thousands of pounds in compensation.
Short deadline to join British Airways class action
There may be in incredibly and unprecedented short deadline to join the British Airways class action after lawyers for the airline want a 17-week cut-off date to join the group case.
This may mean that victims – who could be eligible to claim, on average, £6,000.00, or as much as £16,000.00 in damages where the impact is extreme – could receive nothing. If the deadline is missed, people will normally need to ask the court for special permission to join the action late.
In our experience, this is incredibly hard to achieve, and it his happened in actions we’ve worked on in the past. A different law firm missed the deadline, and after applying for their clients to join late, they were refused.
A hearing is being held next month on 4 October which may dictate the course the BA group action goes in.
A ‘new low’ for British Airways
Speaking to the Daily Mail about the latest developments in the British Airways class action, our Director and Principal Solicitor, Mr Aman Johal, said:
“This is a new low for British Airways, a disgrace. It has let down hundreds of thousands of customers by losing their card payment details.
‘Now it is failing them again by giving everyone affected just 17 weeks to claim rightful compensation for the distress caused.
‘Never mind ‘To fly, to serve’, BA should change its tagline to ‘To fly, to swerve responsibility’. I encourage everyone affected to act quickly to ensure they don’t miss out.”
