There is still time to make a claim in the Well Pharmacy data breach action.
In 2018, Well Pharmacy, a major pharmacy chain, was responsible for leaking the details of over 24,000 staff and locum workers, after the data was accidentally included in an email.
Since the breach, The Data Leak Lawyers has been working hard to take on claims for affected employees ever since we launched legal action in early 2019. We have been working on the action for just over two years now, and our door is still open to any claimants who have yet to come forward.
When the details of 24,000 employees were leaked, Manchester-based chain Well Pharmacy was quick to issue an apology, stating that they were “truly sorry” that the breach had occurred.
The company was also quick to clarify that no patient data had been leaked, but it was established that exposed employee details included:
With so many different personal details at stake, some of which are highly private and sensitive, we immediately recognised the damage that could be caused by the Well Pharmacy data breach. In particular, there were reports that the attached spreadsheet contained an employee ‘blacklist’ which could pose considerable dangers in the wrong hands, although this has been denied by the company.
Accidental emails have been at the heart of many data leaks in recent years, and we are determined to take action to ensure such leaks do not continue to happen.
At the Data Leak Lawyers, we recognise the immense distress that can result from having your personal data exposed, which motivates our drive to put an end to data negligence by irresponsible businesses.
Although group actions tend to take a while to get going to ensure that all the necessary procedures are followed, the announcement of the Well Pharmacy data breach action occurred just over two years ago, and time is running out for people to make a claim as each day goes by. As such, it is vital that claimants come forward to instruct us as soon as possible if they wish to claim compensation, as there is no room for delay.
We encourage any further victims of the Well Pharmacy data breach to come forward and make a claim. The law can entitle you to claim compensation; not only for your involvement in the breach, but also for both material and psychological damages that may have impacted you as a consequence of your data being exposed.
